The Vermont Connection

About The Vermont Connection

The Vermont Connection (TVC) student affairs journal is a blinded peer reviewed scholarly journal produced annually by the Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration (HESA) graduate program at the University of Vermont. Current students comprise the Executive and Full Boards, inviting submissions from the entire HESA community and beyond in the early fall and finishing the publication in the spring. Journals are shared with our HESA alumni and friends.

TVC has a rich history at the University of Vermont. The journal has been published every year for over three decades! TVC and the Full Board are governed by our constitution, a collective document that details the journal process and the roles of the Executive Board. The Executive Board for TVC is elected each year by the Full Board of the previous volume. The Executive Board is responsible for overseeing journal production from start to finish, as well as all other activities of TVC, including maintaining the website, production of newsletters, orientation for incoming HESA students, professional development for current HESA students, social events for HESA students and alum, UVM HESA receptions at national conferences, and much more.

The Executive Board consists of the following positions: Executive Director, Managing Director, Co-Content Editors, Membership & Community Development Chair, Professional Development Chair, Public Relations Chair, and Legacy & Alumnx Relations Chair. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall operation of TVC programs, projects, and representation of TVC. The Managing Director is responsible for coordinating the annual TVC fundraiser (Phone-a-thon), managing the TVC budget, financial records, and publication process of the journal. The Co-Content Editors are responsible for managing the editing production of the journal, creating the call for proposals, managing editing teams, and executing production week. The Membership & Community Development Chair is responsible for promoting, initiating, and maintaining connections between current HESA graduate students, friends, faculty, and staff. The Professional Development Chair is responsible for maintaining professional development of the cohorts and creating connections with HESA alumnx. The Public Relations Chair is responsible for managing all TVC related social media and public relations strategies. The Legacy & Alumnx Relations Chair is responsible for maintaining updated and accurate records that serve the needs of past, present, and future TVC members. The Professional Development, Public Relations, and Legacy & Alumnx Chair positions are open to incoming HESA students. Read more about the journal in our TVC Constitution.
