Abstract
VTI13 is a SNARE that localizes to early endosomes and the vacuole membrane and has been shown to be important for polarized growth in plants as demonstrated by the short root hair phenotype of the vti13 mutant (Larson et al., 2014). Proteomic analysis of the VTI13 endosome implicated a connection between the VTI13 pathway and root growth in response to abiotic stress. Preliminary results indicate that vti13 root hair growth is altered in response to NaCl. We are analyzing if the VTI13 pathway is sensitive to other abiotic stresses that control root growth in plants.
