Abstract
My research focuses on the ways in which medical students conceptualize the category of religion and the importance of religious literacy skills in the medical world. Religious literacy serves as a vital learning tool for medical students to establish a broader and more inclusive understanding of patient care. When it comes to such practices, doctors and physicians should be prepared to respond to patients whose religious practices and backgrounds conflict with seemingly secular forms of medicine. I will use these ideas to examine the conditions of the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine and their conceptualization of religion and medicine.
