Abstract
This study investigates consumer preferences for waste disposal signage on the University of Vermont’s campus. Consumer recall data on language, image, and color elements of signage for landfill, recycling, and compost waste receptacles was gathered to determine which signage elements prompt the most recall, comprehension, and positive association in consumers who use waste receptacles at the University of Vermont, and which elements are considered most important to said consumers. This research will be utilized by the UVM Recycling and Zero Waste office in determining which waste disposal signage is most effective for landfill, recycling, and compost waste receptacles across campus.
