Abstract
3D printed parts are anisotropic, meaning they have different properties when observed or loaded from different directions. This, combined with the recency of 3D printing technology and the complex internal geometry it generates, means it is very difficult to simulate applying forces to a part with software like you could with an isotropic part, rendering real-world testing invaluable. This research details the impact of three different build parameters on the material properties of standardized 3D printed parts. These parts were loaded in tension, while the layer orientation, infill geometry, and infill density were varied.
