Abstract
Louisville, KY is planning for a climate resilient city and includes tree planting as a component of their plan. However, the inequitable distribution of tree canopy poses a threat for some neighborhoods to be more vulnerable than others when faced with adverse climate effects. My research explores the relationships between demographics and tree canopy disparity, as well the change in canopy cover from 2012 to 2019. Using GIS spatial analysis, disparity indices of canopy cover and demographic variables can be calculated and compared and will inform tree planting organizations of the neighborhoods with the greatest need for trees.
