Abstract
The definition of “rural” is broad and does not account for the discrepancies among rural education systems. My research uses county-level demographic data and public school data to identify rural difference in New Hampshire public education. I use a series of maps created with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to display the data and assist in identifying patterns of difference in public high school outcomes. This research aims to suggest a categorization within the definition of rural that will adequately represent the education disparities that exist within rural spaces.
