Abstract
Objectives were to investigate possible milk protein biomarkers and identify milk proteins affected by dietary physically effective undegraded neutral detergent fiber (peuNDF-240) and rumen fermentable starch (RFS) and determine if milking time relative to feeding affected these proteins. Milk samples were collected from sixteen Holsteins cows milked thrice daily (4:30, 12:30, and 20:30 h)fed either a high peuNDF240 high RFS diet or low peuNDF240 low RFS diet for 28 d. Milk proteins were analyzed using LC-MS/MS. Results were analyzed using PROC MIXED in SAS. Thirteen proteins were affected by time, treatment, and their interaction, including xanthine dehydrogenase/oxidase, and zinc-alpha-2-glycoprotein.
