Abstract
This infographic explores the relationship between Parkinson's, a neurodegenerative disease, and environmental exposure to certain pesticides. It is focused on a case-control study by Caroline M. Tanner et al., 2011, published in Environmental Health Perspectives, that investigated an association between pesticide exposure and Parkinson's disease. The environmental risk factors associated with Parkinson's disease are a fairly new discovery in science, and this research advances the understanding of gene-environment interactions in a disease previously thought of to be purely genetic in nature.
