Abstract
The expression of transposable elements (TEs), which are interspersed repeat sequences that make up the majority of the human genome, plays an important role in the development of the body and in diseases. We will use Software for Quantifying Interspersed Repeat Expression (SQuIRE), the first RNA-seq analysis pipeline that provides a quantitative and locus-specific picture of TE expression, to conduct a computational analysis of the effects of TE on gene expression and associated phenotypes. In the study of neuroinflammation in substance use disorder.
