Abstract
Histone post-translational modifications (PTMs) serve as an epigenetic signaling mechanism that regulates gene expression. The Speckled Protein (SP) 110C (SP110C) contains multiple functional domains such as the CARD domain that mediates the formation of larger protein complexes, along with three chromatin reader domains (SAND, plant-homeodomain, bromodomain). These reader domains bind modifications on DNA or histones and regulate cellular processes. My research aims to explore the structure and function of the SP110C SAND-PHD-BRD in recognizing histone acetylation and methylation as it is up-regulated in tamoxifen-resistant breast cancers and linked to inflammatory responses.
