Abstract
Efficient bond formation is an area in chemistry dominated by 4 and 5d transition metal catalysts. However, the use of these noble metals has feigned in recent years due to their increasing cost and scarcity. In contrast, particular interest has been placed on utilizing abundant base metals such as iron and manganese for these valuable chemical transformations. Herein, advancements in silicon-oxygen and silicon-nitrogen dehydrocoupling by a commercially available iron catalyst is reported. Furthermore, the synthesis of a manganese complex for potential catalysis is also reported.
