Abstract
UVM Dance presented six student choreographed pieces (3 solos and 3 groups) at the American College Dance Association (ACDA) regional conferences in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Rochester, New York this spring. The pieces were developed during a semester-long composition class, in which the students participated in choreographic studies that challenged them to work with sound design, movement motifs, spatial design, and storytelling. They explore a variety of themes and were presented to several audiences for feedback in both classroom and performance contexts, giving each choreographer the opportunity to explore different iterations and grow their pieces over time.
