Abstract
Genetic analysis is crucial in forensic and crime scene investigations in linking biological evidence to criminal acts. Current techniques like DNA Methylation, and emerging techniques, such as mRNA profiling, microRNA analysis, and SNP-based genealogy, assist in identifying body fluids and narrowing down suspects. These findings are insufficient independently in court, so they must be used to supplement other evidence. These techniques improve accuracy, which is pertinent as mass incarcerations and miscarriages of justice are at an all-time high. Through the proper application of forensic genetics, convictions could be carried out with more confidence in ensuring justice is served fairly.
