Abstract
During summer 2022, I was awarded the opportunity to be complete a Simon’s Fellowship to work at New Farms for New Americans full time as a garden assistant and intern. During this fellowship, I worked directly with the refugee community in Burlington to help with the growth of local food systems and access to culturally significant crops. For this research, I will be presenting my findings and the work that I completed in a community garden that serves resettled populations. The crux of my research was better understanding how we may teach and bring resources to resettlement sites, like Burlington, so that refugees may be more able to grow culturally significant and comforting foods in a totally new climate and cultural space.
