Abstract
My title is “Paranoid and Reparative Readings of Antigone”. I’m providing another angle to comprehend the plot and characters through theory. I’m using Sedgwick's theory to construct a character analysis of the play’s two main characters. Applying Sedgwick’s concepts to Antigone sheds light on the reparative and paranoid readings, explaining the main characters’ actions. They’re paranoid, overly anticipatory, and blinded by negative effects—something noted but never explored. Embracing paranoia may feel safe, but it can lead to downfall. Ignoring our hamartias, both individual and global, will ultimately lead us to ruin.
