Abstract
Background Potential applications for telehealth within physical therapy are abundant. However, the novelty of telehealth presents a challenge to implementation and further research. Objective Compare validated outcomes in patients with musculoskeletal conditions between in person vs. telehealth or virtual care. Methods A scoping review of the available literature was conducted, utilizing the following databases: OVID, Google Scholar, Medline, PEDro, OpenGrey. Results The compilation of our data reveals there is no significant difference in outcomes between the two modalities of care. Conclusion Telehealth is non-inferior to in person physical therapy when comparing outcomes and demonstrates improved outcomes in some patient populations.
