Abstract
Hindu nationalism (or Hindutva), in a contemporary political context, is the idea that Hinduism is an innate part of the Indian identity. This work seeks to examine and test how Hindu nationalist ideas permeate throughout the West, especially the United States. It will focus on the influence of Hindutva on American politics and general society, in which the latter is examined primarily through social media rhetoric. There is an emphasis on looking at the experiences of Muslim groups and Muslim individuals within the United States as well.
