Abstract
Nanotechnology is a large field that is not often discussed in elementary, secondary, or higher education unless taking advanced or graduate level coursework. These technologies have large impacts on the world around us such as separation chemistry, catalysts, and medical applications such as drug delivery. The middle and high school curriculum of this research revolves around the introduction of nanomaterials starting at one dimensional scale using dimensional analysis, two dimensions investigating how surface area increases in porous materials, modeling of nanoparticles in three dimensions. Formative assessment from before and after this lesson will help identify how receptive student are to these expanded chemical applications.
