Abstract
Patient education about their new medications can be a time consuming endeavor that eats into the already limited time in family medicine clinics. Efficient methods to educate patients which also does not add to the already extensive list of physician duties to be fit into a fifteen or thirty minute visit are paramount. This project aimed to create smart phrases which could be used in the electronic health record to aid in patient education without increasing time requirements. We focused on antihypertensive medications because these are among the most medications prescribed and they often are prescribed to patients already taking other medications.
