Abstract
Aminosilanes and silyamines have a wide range of applications from protecting groups in synthesis to ceramic precursors. Silicon-nitrogen heterodehydrocoupling is a versatile catalytic method to form these Si-N bonds. The atom-economy and greenness of heterodehydrocoupling makes this reaction attractive, and as such search for effective catalysts has been ongoing. Several commercially available compounds have been found to be effective silicon-nitrogen heterodehydrocoupling precatalysts including n BuLi, KOt Amyl, and MeMgBr. Substrate scope of these catalysts have shown short reaction times under mild conditions for a variety of silanes and amines used. These catalyst investigations will lead to more accessible and cost-effect Si-N heterodehydrocoupling.
