Abstract
This research examines mobility equity among older adults, specifically how winter conditions and the built environment impact their mobility in Burlington, Vermont. Through document review, surveys, and interviews, the study reveals various barriers faced by older populations in accessing equitable mobility. Findings indicate that winter conditions and poor urban design disable many older adults when transversing the city. This has negative impacts on many older individuals' well-being and quality of life. The study calls for inclusive and comprehensive improvements in the built environment and advocates for policies that create more accessible transportation options for older adults.
