Abstract
This paper presents research done in the summer of 2020 through UVM's SURF program, focusing on the history of women's asylums in Italy, especially during the fascist period. These asylums were used in larger projects of eugenics and confining women to a biologically reproductive role. In particular, the research focused on reading the book Malacarne by Professor Annacarla Valeriano, an Italian source, due to the lack of information on this subject in English. The paper also discusses fascism more generally, including women's role and some ideological influences such as the Futurists and philosopher Julius Evola.
