Abstract
The East Woods Natural Area Management Plan outlines strategies for maintaining the 40-acre forest's ecological health while supporting its roles in education and recreation. Acquired by the University of Vermont in 1949, this natural area features diverse natural communities such as Northern Hardwood forests and vernal pools, and it is bisected by Potash Brook, a small but impaired water body. The mission of the area focuses on providing field-based learning, community recreation, and critical ecosystem services, particularly flood mitigation and water filtration to improve the quality of Lake Champlain.
