Abstract
The ionizing radiation induced by abdominal CT scans is projected to cause over 100 thousand future cancer cases and could account of 5% of all new cancer diagnoses in children in the US per year. This infographic will argue that the risk associated with these tests is too high to be the standard of care in all cases with possible appendicitis and will thus argue for increased training in ED settings to diagnose via US or MRI (when possible).
