Abstract
Background: A biopsychosocial model encompasses psychologic, social, and physical factors into treatment, purported to lead to better outcomes. However, there is variability in biopsychosocial treatments. This systematic literature review will determine how this model is being implemented by physical therapists for patients with chronic pain. Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted using Ovid MEDLINE and CINAHL, from 2010 to 2022. Results: Six articles met the inclusion criteria. Data extraction and synthesis is actively underway. Discussion: The biopsychosocial model is used by physical therapists in numerous ways. Our results will describe current biopsychosocial treatment for patients with chronic pain.
