Abstract
UVM stormwater is managed through a series of treatment facilities, which collect water from several sub catchments within the main campus. Stormwater is impacted by salting and deicing in winter, which can negatively impact infrastructure and the environment. This project monitors basic water quality concentrations in five UVM stormwater ponds via conductivity, pH, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity. Conductivity ranged from 537-12650 μS/cm beginning June 2021 through present. The study will determine how salting impacting conductivity in the ponds. This data will allow The UVM Salt Mitigation Task Force to assess the effect of reduced salting on water quality in the campus watershed.
