Abstract
This project seeks to determine how housing stability and location impact wellbeing, social capital, and housing outcomes in Chittenden County, Vermont. In partnership with Pathways Vermont, this study centers on participants of a Housing First program. I will use geospatial and statistical analysis of proximity to community resources and housing stability, and qualitative interviews to further examine relationships to social capital and wellbeing in Chittenden County, Vermont. I expect to find a positive association between proximity to community resources and housing stability, and between time spent in stable housing as well as perceived proximity to resources and social capital/self-rated health. This project hopes to provide evidence to promote the success of Housing First programs, as well as provide insight into the nuances of the geospatial determinants of housing success, and more of the nuances of the role of housing in wellbeing.
