Abstract
AC State Estimation (ACSE) is crucial for grid stability and market dispatch. However, existing algorithms have flaws, especially sensitivity to fixed system parameters. To address this, we propose a novel joint parameter-state estimation algorithm. It creates an equivalent circuit with unknown parameters, solving a constrained optimization to estimate grid states and parameters accurately. The algorithm quantifies estimation quality by forming tight convex envelopes around non-convex problems, ensuring local observability. Demonstrated on synthetic Texas grid networks, it offers a promising solution to the challenges posed by increasing grid complexity amidst rapid electrification.
