Abstract
This project investigates the ways in which asylum seeker and refugee populations in France have been affected by COVID-19. My research focuses on the three different topics of public health, borders, and police enforcement. I argue that due to COVID-19 these three aspects have significantly constrained the lives of asylum seeker and refugee populations in France and has led to an even greater rise of xenophobic and racist rhetoric targeting minority and migrant populations than already existed. My project adds to the current and emerging research concerning asylum seeker and refugee populations in the age of COVID- 19 in France.
