Abstract
This report recommends adding the Carse Wetlands to the UVM Natural Areas System, provided that startup and operational funding were approved. The Carse Land is 225.4 acres in size and located in Hinesburg, Vermont adjacent to and east of Baldwin Road. The property is a mix of open agricultural fields, forests, and wetlands including a basin of open water. The wetlands and open water dominate the central portion of the property isolating the eastern side of the property from the more accessible western portion. In December 2013, UVM received a gift of the Carse Land from the Carse Family (Carse Land Company, LLC). Prior to UVM receiving the gift of this land, The Vermont Land Trust was and granted the development rights and a perpetual conservation easement on the property.
