Abstract
The topic of my infographic is how a host's genetics impacts their oral microbiota, specifically bacteria. Oral health is important because it has an impact on general health and can help prevent various systemic diseases. Gaining information on how genetics impacts the health of the oral cavity could help dental professionals create more specialized and preventative treatment plans. This infographic presents information from the study �Heritability of Oral Microbiota and Immune Responses to Oral Bacteria� (Esberg, 2020, Microorganisms). This study provides information on how genetics impacts the presence or absence of certain bacteria, variation in metabolic pathways of carbohydrates, and how antibodies respond to certain bacteria within the oral cavity.
