Abstract
This project will look at pottery classes taught in modern ceramics studios on the UVM campus to see what ancient education techniques are represented. This will examine whether cross-cultural patterns emerge between puebloan potters of the Southwest and UVM potters. This project will identify the ways modern ceramics instruction reflect traditional practices and what ways they don't. It will also cover what kinds of techniques are used, how much is left up to self reflection, and how much reliance there is on direct observation of instructors.
