Abstract
Current wastewater treatment plants employ ex situ methods of monitoring nitrogen levels, as well as other constituents. This practice limits the ability of an operator to respond to system shocks. In situ microsensors have the potential to send real-time data to the cloud, reducing response time and input costs. These sensors can be applied to systems in various fields to streamline data gathering and environmental monitoring.
