Abstract
While the works of Cindy Sherman have been discussed at length, the goal of this thesis is to summarize the main critiques of Sherman's works, as well as discuss these artworks in conjunction with creations of other members of the group of artists working in New York in the seventies and eighties known as the Pictures Generation.
