Abstract
Queen City Stories is a collection of eight pieces of short fiction. Each one is told through the first person as if the narrator were speaking the story out loud. Voice is essentially present but other elements of story may not be. They are fragmented and selective. The setting of each story is a real place in Burlington, Vermont. They are meant to feel informal, contingent, and improvisational in their telling, seemingly mundane in their conflict, and avoid being artful. These stories are an experiment in a new type of realism, in a type of post-postmodernism.
