Abstract

The OBGYN Peer-led Shelf Review is part of an ongoing medical teaching program led by 4th year medical students at the Larner College of Medicine. The review is divided into lecture, case-based questions, fill-in-the-blank, and image-based review. Content for the teaching program was determined by analysis of past NBME practice exam questions and outlines, compiling content from a variety of medical review resources. This review aims to provide 3rd year medical students with an accessible, cost-free high yield resource. To increase engagement, this review is coupled with an Instagram campaign that posts review content weekly. The OBGYN Peer-led Shelf Review is continually updated and receptive to pre- and post-review surveys which assess preferred teaching methods and perceptions of social media as a study resource. Future directions of this work include expansion of the social media campaign and further acquisition of feedback to better understand learning gaps for OBGYN clerkship students.
