Abstract

Glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase is a rate-limiting enzyme implicated in many metabolic pathways of cyanobacteria. A homologous form of the G6PD gene is found in the cyanophage SRSM4. The velocity of the virus-encoded enzyme is dependent on the substrates G6P and NADP+. Michaelis-Menten kinetics were performed on a synthetic SRSM4 G6PD enzyme.
