Transition to adulthood in adolescents with cerebral palsy(CP): The biopsychosocial constructs
Conference Year
January 2022
Abstract
Background-Adolescents with CP face numerous biopsychosocial challenges when transitioning into adulthood. We aim to identify outcome measures (OM) and their constructs that are compatible with the biopsychosocial model of healthcare.
Methods/Results-A literature review identified 11 articles containing 25 OM that assess the transition for adolescents with CP. OM constructs were linked and mapped onto the CP ICF core-set, determining their ability to assess the functioning domains of CP during the transition.
Conclusion-OM varied in ability to incorporate the biopsychosocial model during the transition. Further research is necessary to evaluate psychometrics of the most comprehensive OM for clinical use.
