Natural History Musem Mammal Collection
Conference Year
2023
Abstract
The mammal collection in the natural history museum houses thousands of mammal specimens from Vermont and other parts of the world. We are processing samples to add to the collection. These samples are collected from projects like the Vermont Herp Atlas, Colby hill Ecological Project, and graduate research projects. We are also collecting tissue samples for a project on campus to be used to screen for emerging infectious diseases. Preparing the backlog of specimens will add more valuable information to the collection and organizing the collection makes this information much more easily accessible.
