Abstract

Although maple production in Vermont has grown due to technological advancements, technology adoption is not equally observed across all maple farms, and the industry is threatened by climate change‐related challenges. We investigate farmer demographics associated with technology adoption and how technology adoption is influenced by their perceptions towards climate change, using data collected by Vermont Maple Producers’ Surveys. Although the study does not reveal significant associations between climate change perceptions and technology adoption, farmers’ political affiliation is significantly associated with technology adoption. This research informs future research into climate change and associated strategies adopted by farmers in this industry.
