Abstract
The Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) show the relationship between pollution and economic growth. It has an inverted U-shape that shows that as per capita income increases, pollution increases up to a certain point, then after this point, economic growth can increase while pollution decreases. Dasgupta et al. (2002) proposed several ways to shift this curve down and to the left, lower maximum levels of pollution and for pollution to start decreasing at lower levels of income. This study examines these recommendations which include increased and better environmental regulation methods, formal and informal regulations, external pressures, better information, and economic liberalization.
