Conference Year
2024
Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVE: High impact chronic pain(HICP) affects 6.4% of US adults. The PATH program of HICP management at the UVMMC Comprehensive Pain Program combines group medical and psychological visits with integrative therapies. METHODS: Insurance claims data were obtained for the 12 months prior to and following the program. Participants completed patient reported outcome (PRO) measures at the beginning and end of the program. RESULTS: 151 of 170 (88.8%) adults completed PATH. Cost of care decreased 17 - 67% during the observation period. All PROs improved from baseline to final assessment. CONCLUSIONS: PATH showed benefits for utilization and financial outcomes and improvement in all PROs.
