Statistical Analysis of Auction House Prices Through Maya Pottery
Conference Year
January 2019
Abstract
The research I have conducted here aimed to follow the various trends and outliers in the sales prices of Maya Pottery through private auction houses. Using the available catalogs of auction houses such as Sotheby’s, Christie’s, and Bonhams to gather current and historical sales data, I aimed to track the fluctuation in both listed and selling price for Maya Pottery over an extended period. From this analysis, I marked any outliers in price and tried to pinpoint certain archaeological discoveries or popular culture events that could have caused the shift in price.
