Optimal Allocation of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Abstract
The adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) is rapidly increasing. This growth necessitates a corresponding expansion of EV charging infrastructure. However, failure to consider relevant factors during charging station construction can lead to sub-optimal or infeasible outcomes. This paper examines the impact of distribution grid power flow as one such factor. We propose an optimization model to identify optimal locations for EV charging stations, considering AC power flow constraints. We use the current injection method to formulate AC network constraints in bilinear form and we solve a constrain.
