About The Vermont Connection
The Vermont Connection (TVC) student affairs journal is an anonymous, peer reviewed scholarly journal produced annually by the Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration (HESA) graduate program at the University of Vermont. Current students comprise the Executive and Full Boards, inviting article submission from the entire HESA community in the early fall and finishing the publication in the winter. Journals are shared with our HESA alumni and friends.
TVC has a rich history at the University of Vermont. The journal has been published every year for over three decades! TVC and the Full Board are governed by our constitution, a collective document that details the journal process and the roles of the Executive Board. The Executive Board for TVC is elected each year by the Full Board of the previous volume. The Executive Board is responsible for overseeing journal production from start to finish, as well as all other activities of TVC, including maintaining the website, production of alumni/ae newsletters, orientation for incoming HESA students, professional development for current HESA students, social events for HESA students and alum, UVM HESA receptions at national conferences, and much more.
The Executive Board consists of the following positions: Executive Editor, Managing Editor, Co-content Editors, Membership and Public Relations Chair, and Social and Professional Development Chairs. The Executive Editor is responsible for supervising the production of the journal and all activities that involve TVC. The Executive Editor also serves as the primary contact to the HESA community. The Managing Editor is responsible for coordinating the annual TVC fundraiser, Phone-a-thon, and serves as the primary coordinator of the printing process. The Co-content editors primarily manage the editing of articles for inclusion in the journal. They are specifically responsible for creating the call for articles, managing editing teams, and executing production weekend. The Membership & Public Relations Chair helps to promote, initiate and maintain connections between current HESA graduate students, friends, faculty and alumni/ae. The Social and Professional Development Chairs bring the two HESA cohorts together by planning social events that foster connections and deeper relationships. Additionally, they implement professional development activities and maintain a historic record for the journal. This is an Executive Board position for two 1st year HESA students.
